Getting our fingers green!

Some of our residents miss being able to get outside in their own gardens so asked if we could have some gardening sessions included in our entertainment. So, today we had our first potting session!

One lady hadn’t done gardening before and even said “I couldn’t think of anything worse” … but still got stuck in and enjoyed it so much.

Today they planted some sweet peas and have put them in propagators to grow. These sit on the windowsill in the lounge for resdents to keep an eye on, keep watered, and watch them grow until they’re ready to go outside.

They also put some Winter-to-Spring pots together. Each resident chose what to put in their own tubs. They currently have pansies and violas showing but in springtime you will (hopefully) see either crocuses, tulips, hyacinths, or daffodils growing up.

Residents enjoyed something a bit different and some even helped tidy up afterwards (they can stay!).

When the weather warms up, we’ll look at planting some veggies!!
